Calculate the Sum

You can calculate the Sum in a table, although it is not as simple as working in Microsoft Excel.

 

5. Before You Begin: Edit the Table
Please enter some data: go to the last Column and type in the quantity (in numbers) as shown.


Confirm the Header Row Formatting: The first Row in this Table should be formatted Bold. This indicates that the first Row is a Header Row.

Sort the Table
Select the entire Table.
Go to
Table Tools ->Layout->Data->Sort.
You can choose which field you want to Sort By.

Look at the bottom of the Window: Does it say, My list has a Header Row? The Header Row is the first Row of your Table.
It should stay at the top when the Rows are sorted.

 

Place Your Cursor Here: Go to the blank Row at the bottom of your Table: Click in Cell D7. We will insert the formula here.
