Select Column D.

Go to Home -> Number.

Click on Format Cells.

Note: This option can be found in the bottom right corner of the Number group. It looks like a small, blue arrow.

Format the Number

Category: Currency

Decimal Places: 2

Symbol: ($) US Dollars

Negative Numbers: ($1,234.10)

 

Red ink is bad in anyone's bookkeeping, but use the negative sign or parentheses in case you need to print in black and white.

Click OK to Close the Format Cells window.
